Emma is joining the Clean Water team in Massachusets as our new Climate Justice Organizer! In this role, she will be providing support on all our climate campaigns, with a major focus on building out our offshore wind work as well as helping with direct outreach to improve underserved communities’ access to the Mass Save® program.

I'm extremely excited about Clean Water’s energy efficiency outreach work to ensure that all Massachusetts residents have access to the cost saving benefits of the Mass Save program regardless of socioeconomic status and language barriers. I'm also looking forward to working with local partners and environmental justice organizations to advocate to expand offshore wind energy in my home state! - Emma Weis

Emma joined Clean Water Action as an Intern in the fall of 2023 before transitioning to a full-time role as the Climate Justice Organizer in the Boston Office this winter. She graduated from Connecticut College in May of 2023 and earned a B.A. in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Social Justice and Sustainability.

Before moving to Boston, Emma was an intern with the Connecticut Roundtable on Climate and Jobs while living in New London, CT and worked to ensure a just transition to a renewable energy economy. This work included drafting press releases and other campaign materials in support of SB 961: a Carbon Free and Healthy Schools Act and well as creating community guides that stress the importance of Community Benefits Agreements, Project Labor Agreements, and local advocacy.

Emma was born and raised in Newburyport, Massachusetts.

Growing up here in Massachusetts both inspired a lifelong appreciation for the natural beauty of our state and an understanding of how different communities experience the reality of climate change. I’m dedicated to advocating for the environmental justice communities most vulnerable to climate change.

Outside of work, Emma is an outdoor sports enthusiast who loves skiing, hiking, and camping as well as reading, traveling, and trying new foods. She currently lives in South Boston, MA.
