Clean Water Action Statement on the Senate Farm Bill

Yesterday the Senate passed its version of the Farm Bill with bipartisan support.

Clean Water Action President and CEO, Robert Wendelgass issued the following statement.

"In stark contrast to the disaster that the House passed last week, the Senate Farm Bill is relatively free of attacks on our environment, health, and nutrition. The Senate rejected several provisions that were included in the House bill, including the Dirty Water Rider that seeks to repeal the Clean Water Rule as well as cuts to conservation programs that help protect water resources. As the Farm Bill continues to move, it must be kept free of poison pill riders and attacks on our water and health."

Since our founding during the campaign to pass the landmark Clean Water Act in 1972, Clean Water Action has worked to win strong health and environmental protections by bringing issue expertise, solution-oriented thinking and people power to the table. We will protect clean water in the face of attacks from a polluter friendly Administration and Congress.
