Clean Water Action Endorses Gretchen Driskell for Congress

LANSING- Today, Clean Water Action announced its endorsement of Gretchen Driskell for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District.

“Gretchen Driskell understands that we need to protect drinking water and stand up against the dirty water agenda of the Trump administration," said Mary Brady-Enerson, Clean Water Action Michigan Director. "Throughout her career, Driskell has been a strong advocate for our Great Lakes and protecting our water resources and we can’t wait to see that work continue in DC.”

Gretchen Driskell is running for the 7th Congressional District seat against incumbent Tim Walberg, who has an extremely poor voting record on environmental issues. Walberg has voted to remove stream and wetland protections, to fast track approval for oil and gas pipelines, and to make it easier for fossil fuel corporations to influence EPA’s scientific review process. In comparison, during her time serving in the Michigan legislature, Driskell stood up to the fossil fuel industry by calling for a moratorium on fracking and consistently advocated for better protections for our lakes, rivers, streams and drinking water.

“Gretchen Driskell understands and values the fact that our state is surrounded by over 20% of the world’s fresh water resources. She is a proven leader who will stand up for the Great Lakes and our environment,” said Brady-Enerson. “We are proud to endorse her campaign and look forward to working with her in Congress.”
