Clean Water Action Endorses Erika Strassburger for Pittsburgh City Council
February 14, 2018 – Pittsburgh – Today Clean Water Action endorsed Erika Strassburger in her campaign for City Council District 8. Clean Water Action is non-profit environmental organization that has worked to win strong health and environmental protections by bringing issue expertise, solution-oriented thinking and people power to the table. They have roughly 80,000 members across Pennsylvania, and 1,500 members in District 8.
"On behalf of our members in the district, Clean Water Action is proud to endorse Erika for Pittsburgh City Council, District 8," said Steve Hvozdovich, Pennsylvania Campaigns Director. "Erika is the only candidate in the race who combines a deep understanding of the environmental issues facing Pittsburgh with deep understanding of how to navigate city government to achieve solutions to these issues. We know this because we've been fighting alongside Erika for cleaner air and water in Pittsburgh dating back to her time as an environmental advocate and look forward to continuing to do so in the future."
Prior to serving as District 8 Chief of Staff for Councilman Dan Gilman, Erika was an environmental leader for nearly a decade. From her years of working on clean water and clean air, clean energy, global warming, and other environmental legislation to protect vulnerable populations, Erika is uniquely qualified to move legislation on City Council that will address difficult environmental issues.
“I want a Pittsburgh where we can confidently drink our own water and not need to worry about lead,” said Erika Strassburger. “We still have a lot of work to do to ensure we have safe drinking water, healthy air, and clean rivers. Advocating for a healthy environment for all families has long been my passion, and I look forward to continuing that work on City Council if I am lucky enough to earn the support of the voters on March 6th. Thank you to Clean Water Action for your endorsement, it means so much to have the backing of a group I respect so deeply.”
District 8 includes the East End neighborhoods of Shadyside, Point Breeze, Squirrel Hill, and Oakland. For the last for years, Erika Strassburger served as the Chief of Staff in District 8, giving her unique insight into the issues that constituents care about the most. Election Day for the special election to fill the City Council seat is March 6. Visit VoteErika.com for more information about Erika and her campaign.
