Washington DC -- Today the House of Representatives passed the INVEST in America Act which includes significant investments in our nation’s infrastructure including important water pollution and drinking water programs.
Clean Water Action Campaigns Director, Lynn Thorp, released the following statement:
“The INVEST Act is part of the framework for infrastructure investments that improve water quality, protect people’s health, and address the climate crisis. We applaud the House for including $45 billion in funding for lead service line replacement in the INVEST in America Act. Where lead service lines are present, they are the largest source of lead in drinking water. Replacing these pipes, which were banned in 1986, is a common-sense way to reduce lead exposure to protect everyone’s health - but especially children under 6.”
