2024 Winter/Spring Semester

Clean Water Action is partnering with Malden High School for our 2024 Youth Action Collaborative, our leadership development program to educate, energize, and organize Massachusetts youth to act on local environmental issues. This is a great opportunity both for students who are already interested in the environment and for students who want to learn more, build their resume, and make a difference!

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about climate action, drinking water, toxic chemical exposure, and zero waste campaigns through a justice lens in a fun and engaging collaborative environment.
  • Develop grassroots organizing and leadership skills including public speaking, social media campaign design, and event planning.
  • Attend public hearings and meetings where environmental decisions are made.
  • Make connections with peers and mentors in the environmental movement!

Elected leaders are making decisions that will impact our climate future right now. Let’s make sure our voices are heard!

Climate Justice:

Our generation has a unique opportunity to flip the switch on dirty energy while centering the needs of the most vulnerable communities who have borne the brunt of the pollution. We know another world is possible, and together with our allies, we're working towards a clean energy future.

Water:

Water is a human right. But right now, not everyone has access to clean drinking water. We need to both fix existing pollution and water infrastructure problems at the same time as we “turn off the tap” on future pollution by stopping toxic polluters.

Toxics:

Toxic chemicals are everywhere – even in the everyday products we bring into our homes. We are working to create awareness and pass legislation to reduce the use of and exposure to toxic chemicals like PFAS.

Zero Waste:

Right now, we burn or bury our trash, often in environmental justice communities which bear the brunt of the toxic pollution released into the air and water. We are working to reduce the amount of waste generated by Massachusetts in the first place, so we can responsibly phase out the worst polluting facilities.
