We are winning the fight to shut down Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline. Enbridge and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce might have millions of dollars, but our people-powered campaign has led the way for bold action from Attorney General Nessel and Governor Whitmer. But we’re not done yet – this is a critical moment and your state senator and representative need to hear from you.
In late June Attorney General Nessel filed a lawsuit to invalidate Enbridge’s easement to operate Line 5 and shut down the pipeline for good. This is the quickest and surest way to shut down Line 5. Governor Whitmer also recently established the Upper Peninsula Energy Task Force to identify and approve the best options to shut down Line 5 and ensure that the 12,000 UP households that currently rely on it for propane have a backup plan.
Enbridge and its allies are desperate, using scare tactics to sway Michigan lawmakers to support its oil tunnel scheme. But our lawmakers were elected to represent us, not Enbridge and their corporate allies. Contact your State House Representative and State Senator today and let them know that the only way to eliminate the threat Line 5 poses to our Great Lakes is to shut Line 5 down and reject any attempt to replace it with an unnecessary oil tunnel.
Thank you for your continued support. Together we will win and protect the Great Lakes from a massive oil spill.
