Alaina grew up near the land known as Minneapolis, Minnesota and worked in childcare and at several grocery stores. Alaina studied Environment, Sustainability, and Geography, Political Science, and Geographic Information Science at the University of Minnesota Duluth while earning a certificate in Sustainable Leadership. While studying, Alaina worked for the Office of Sustainability, volunteered at the UMD Land Lab and Greenhouse, assisted with communications for the KUMD radio station, taught Physical Geography labs to students, and developed organizing skills with volunteers and community groups. Alaina also worked as a Recycling Outreach Intern for Minneapolis Solid Waste and Recycling to assist residents and property managers with waste diversion by recycling and composting. Recently, Alaina moved to the Twin Cities area to work for the Yes On 2 Minneapolis campaign promoting public safety and racial justice and at Bachman’s Nursery Production learning practical plant production and building Spanish language skills. Alaina also loves to grow plants, fungi, knowledge, and community and spend time outside by the Mississippi River and Lake Superior.
