If you feel like you’re getting body-slammed by all the requests coming in through your phone or computer, you’re not alone. Here’s why: almost one-third of total giving happens in the month of December. The causes you care about most, and many others, don’t want to be left out.

You may not be able to donate to every worthy nonprofit that asks, but here are some tips on why we hope Clean Water makes your donation list – and how you can maximize your impact.

Four Clean Water Giving Tips

Do it now. Most of that December year-end giving happens on December 29, 30 or 31, but the sooner that you donate, the sooner we can put your gift to work protecting clean water. Donate now and we’ll hold off emailing you any more requests until next year. Make your year-end gift to Clean Water Action or Clean Water Fund now.

Give Confidently. Did you know Clean Water Fund earned the highest 4-star rating from the independent Charity Navigator watchdog? When it comes to Clean Water, your gifts have never been more important. Clean water remains in the crosshairs today – under assault from polluters and their allies in Congress and the White House. Join us with your tax-deductible gift to defend clean water and advance our positive, proactive agenda for keeping our water clean.

Multiply your Clean Water Impact. Many employers will match donations made to Clean Water Fund. In addition, many of our supporters find they can give more generously when the donation is tax-deductible (gifts to Clean Water Fund are deductible as charitable contributions to the extent allowed by law). You may also choose to support Clean Water Fund with a gift or grant from your Donor Advised Fund (DAF) or family foundation, and we’re also able to accept gifts of stock. Let us know how we can assist you with your matching gift or year-end giving.

Sustain it! Whether you support Clean Water Action or Clean Water Fund, consider sustaining your support with a recurring gift. It’s easy to set up and your donations support our work year-round so that the resources are available to protect clean water when they’re most urgently needed. Or check out Clean Water Action’s new “Round-Up” donation program which lets you automatically donate spare change from your everyday purchases – whether you’re shopping online, at the supermarket or department store, at the pump, or your local coffee shop. This is an easy way to make small donations that add up to a really big impact for clean water.

No matter how you choose to support Clean Water this holiday season know that your support matters.

One last thing: have you thought about Giving the Gift of Clean Water? You can donate online in honor or memory of a loved one, and we’ll send out the notifications. It’s an easy and meaningful gift!
