<p>We need constituents to talk with their local lawmakers at the municipal level, and at the state level about what needs to be done to stop water from being shipped out of the Great Lakes.  We also need concerned citizens to assist us in our Clean Energy Now campaign, to stop seven new dirty coal plants from being built in Michigan.  Please give the office nearest you a call, and we will set up a meeting to train you on how to talk with elected officials, and motivate others to take action, and make democracy work.  We will also connect you with other likeminded neighbors who are taking action.</p>

<p>We have on-going volunteer opportunities with our Great Lakes Great Michigan II and Clean Energy Now campaigns. We need stronger laws that protect all waters in Michigan from being shipped away from the Great Lakes, and we need to move Michigan into a clean energy future.  Please call one of our organizers, we always need help!

<p>We will be educating and mobilizing our community in the most effective way with door-to-door work. If you are concerned about a <strong>million gallons of raw sewage leaking every day</strong> from failing septic systems in Kent County - Come be apart of the change! <p>Starting <strong>in June we will be meeting in our Royal Oak office every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm.</strong>  Please RSVP to Lynna at (586) 556-8805.</p>

<p>Are you concerned that we are shipping our Great Lakes water away while importing mountains of out-of-state and Canadian trash?  Are you worried about the chemicals in your children's toys, cleaning products and health and beauty products?  Are you concerned about Michigan's energy future?  Do you want to make sure that environmentally-friendly candidates are elected to office?  Are you willing to work to make sure our health and our environment are protected?  Then volunteer with Clean Water Action and become part of the coalition of citizens working for change.</p>

<em>Renewable Energy Town Hall</em>
<br />
Michigan's energy future is being decided right now, and your lawmakers need to know where you stand.  Seven new, dirty coal plants have been proposed in Michigan and the first one just received a permit to begin construction.  If you believe that Michigan's energy future needs to go in another direction by investing in renewable energy and bringing green manufacturing jobs to the state then join us and let your voice be heard.</p>

We're going dark to raise awareness about our Energy Independence and No Coal campaigns.   That's right we're having a party and we're not going to use any energy! </p>

<p>Join us at 8:00pm for some locally grown refreshments.  Our program will start promptly at 8:30pm... we'll discuss our current campaigns, take action and work on some art projects to help raise awareness about energy issues.  Please RSVP to Heather at (313) 815-3353.</p>

Do you ever wonder how our actions including how we care for our lawn, our cars and our pets affect the quality of our groundwater?  Then join us when Mebby Pearson from Michigan State University's Oakland County Extension office will talk with us about how our actions at surface are affecting the quality of our groundwater below.  Ms. Pearson will bring with her a fabulous groundwater model and lots of helpful resources to help us become better groundwater stewards.</p>

<em>Tour the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Motherhouse in Monroe, Michigan</em>

The IHM Motherhouse is Michigan's premier example of green remodeling.  This will be our second tour of the IHM; we've scheduled it in late July so that we are able to admire the much talked about wildflower display that takes place on the grounds. <em>Nature's Eye Tour of the Detroit River</em> 
Take a naturalist's tour of the lower Detroit River to discover the rich variety of plant and animal life living here in this area, now a part of the new International Wildlife Refuge. The river is host to a wide variety of habitats from submerged plant beds and shoals to coastal marshes. And yes, we know where the Bald Eagle nests are!  For more info:
