Clean Water Action Statement on President-Elect Donald Trump

Wednesday, November 9, 2016

This is frustrating but it's not a time to retreat. This is a moment for anyone who wants to protect clean water, act on climate, and improve public health to come together and take action.

Washington, DC - Donald Trump has been elected President of the United States. Bob Wendelgass, Clean Water Action President and CEO, released the following statement.

"This is frustrating but it's not a time to retreat. This is a moment for anyone who wants to protect clean water, act on climate, and improve public health to come together and take action.

Thankfully subtlety is not one of Donald Trump's vices - we know exactly what he said he will do. He promised to appoint oil industry insiders and climate change deniers to federal agencies. He will try to pull back on the commitments the United States made to fight climate change. And attempt to revoke vital safeguards like the Clean Power Plan and Clean Water Rule. We know what we need to do - push back

Water and public health are not partisan issues - Americans won't stand for a President who attacks landmark laws like the Clean Water and Clean Air Acts. Over the next few months we will mobilize our members from across the nation, and the public, to be ready to push back on the Trump administration's attempts to weaken protections for our water, climate, and communities.
