On Tuesday, June 18th, 2013, Clean Water Action will hold our annual Lobby Day at the state capitol in Harrisburg. Come lobby with us! The day will consist of the opportunity to meet with your state senator and representative as well as taking part in our rally for Department of Environmental Protection accountability at noon in the capitol rotunda.

Fracking near houses - smaller.JPGWhen you fear your drinking water has been contaminated by natural gas drilling you have a place to turn to for help - the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). In a letter, former DEP Secretary Michael Krancer said, “DEP has determined that Marcellus shale drilling has impacted the water supplies of 25 separate complainants since 2009.” This is the biggest admission to date of impacted families but there are many other Pennsylvanians who are experiencing water problems due to drilling. Has your water been affected by drilling? Do you know someone whose water has been impacted? We want to hear from you - click here to share your story!

does shell oil really need our tax dollars?

Gov. Corbett is proposing tax breaks worth $1.7 billion over the 25 years or roughly $67 million a year, for a refinery in western Pennsylvania planned by Shell Oil Co. Shell already stands to receive 15 years of exemptions from state and local property taxes under a bill Corbett signed which designates the plant site as a Keystone Opportunity Zone.

Tell your legislators that there are better ways to spend our taxes.

Bedford Gas Drillinga bad vote for our communities

Let your elected officials know what you think of their vote to take your town's rights away!

Campaign for Clean Water

Water is one of PA’s premier natural resources, with 83,184 miles of streams and rivers, 161,445 acres of ponds and lakes, over 403,000 acres of wetlands, and 47 trillion gallons of groundwater. These resources are vital to the quality of life in our communities, providing drinking water for millions and supporting countless industries. Having clean water is extremely important to PA’s economy, with fishing activities alone generating $4.7 billion a year in revenue and supporting 43,000 jobs. Clean water also improves property values, with higher values directly associated with the health of streams and watersheds.
