Saturday, April 24-27. Global Green Expo

The PSEG Global Green Expo will be one of the largest and most comprehensive Earth Day events to be held in New Jersey. It is expected to attract thousands of people to Liberty State Park, April 25-26-27, where they can learn about the latest eco-friendly products, programs and services from actors and activists Ted Danson and Ed Begley, Jr., Animal Planet host Jeff Corwin, best-selling author Deirdre Imus, and North Jersey healthy living advocate Emme. More than 125 exhibitors and non-profit organizations will be on hand. “Green” building and remodeling, energy, food, household products, lifestyle, transportation, and yard and garden information will be offered.

The Golden Globe Award-winning actor and his older brother, Michael, together known as the musical group The Bacon Brothers, will perform live at the PSEG Global Green Expo presented by The Star-Ledger on Saturday, April 26 at 5:00 p.m. as part of the largest Earth Day celebration ever held in the state of New Jersey.

Advance discount tickets are $13 for one day, $23 for two days, and $28 for a three day pass. Tickets purchased at the Expo will be $15 for one day, $25 for two days, and $30 for a three-day pass. Attendees presenting a New Jersey Transit receipt save $2 off gate admission. Children age 12 and under are free. Call 1-888-443-9763 or visit www.nj.com/globalgreen for details.

The first 1,000 people attending the Expo each day will receive a free, energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulb courtesy of PSEG. These bulbs use 75 percent less energy than standard lighting and last up to 10 times longer than standard bulbs.

Saturday, April 26. Shred-A-Thon & Green Expo.

Helping to celebrate Earth Day and the 1st Anniversary of the Morris Habitat for Humanity ReStore, local Professional Organizers from Bergen County will be participating in the 2nd Annual Free Shred-A-Thon and Green Vendor Expo from 10 AM-2 PM on Saturday, April 26, rain or shine. The Re-Store is located at 102 Iron Mountain Road, Mine Hill, NJ.

The event is being presented as a service to the community by the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO-NNJ).

From 10AM to 1PM, visitors will have the opportunity to present two letter-sized banker's boxes of paper for immediate shredding, courtesy of Shred-it of Fairfield, a company that provides mobile on-site document destruction and recycling services. There will also be collection bins for old cell phones and eye glasses. This is a great event to start your spring cleaning!

From 10AM to 2PM, a variety of eco-friendly vendors, including Cartridge World of Hillsdale, The Cool Planet of Washington Township, and Verena Aibel of Vibrant Visions International of Hackensack, will be exhibiting environmentally conscious products for home and office. Cartridge World will be giving out free prizes to anyone dropping off an ink cartridge at their booth. Refreshments will be available and raffle drawings for items donated by IKEA and The Container Store will take place throughout the day.
