New Jersey Environmental Federation employs a professional staff of organizers, door to door and phone canvassers to educate and activate our members and allies.

POSITION:
GRASSROOTS ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZER

DESCRIPTION:

• Organize and activate citizen participation through fundraising, membership recruitment, public education, and constituent letter-writing campaigns.
• Learn about New Jersey environmental issues
• Work on campaigns to protect communities’ drinking water, protect the citizen’s right to know, and protect communities from pollution.
• Work with a team of experienced environmental organizers
• Involve citizens in community decision-making
• Learn fundraising and grassroots organizing
• Work toward the election of pro-environmental candidates through voter education, registration, turnout, and volunteer recruitment.
• Develop grassroots support on safe drinking water; protection of rivers, lakes, and streams; enforcement of environmental laws; pesticide use reduction; and polluter pay principles

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Commitment to environmental and social justice
  
• Strong communication skills, especially one-to-one interaction
  
• Team oriented attitude

WORK SCHEDULE:

• Full-time 2:30 to 10:00 pm Mon - Fri
• Part-time 2:30 to 10:00 pm 3 days a week, Mon. - Fri.

• $425 (Belmar office) or $450 (Montclair office) per week for full time.
• Fundraising bonuses.
• Paid training.

ADVANCEMENT:

• Leadership and management positions available within 2-3 months, based on performance and commitment *Excellent management training program
