Clean Energy Communities

Clean Water Action has been working in collaboration with Massachusetts Interfaith Power and Light to promote clean energy choice in Massachusetts since 2005.

Our Clean Energy Campaign Goals are:

  1. To increase public and official understanding of renewable energy and efficiency
  2. To get municipal governments to commit to purchase renewable energy. The first step is passing a Town Resolution.
  3. To get at least 150 households signed up for MTC's clean energy choice program and thus make the community eligible for an MTC matching grant.

We have successfully campaigned for clean energy in Worcester and Salem. Both communities earned a matching grant from MTC. Worcester (same link) used the grant to fun their Renewable Energy Task Force, and Salem (same link) is using their grant to purchase a PV Solar Array.

This year we are continuing our clean energy work in Worcester and Salem as well as starting new Clean Energy Campaigns in Haverhill, Lowell, and Quincy.
