Massachusetts
Clean Energy Campaign
The campaign is part of Massachusetts Technology Collaborative's (MTC) Clean Energy Choice Program
Electricity sold to Massachusetts customers has, for years, been overly dependent upon old dirty fuels such as coal and oil, and the nuclear reactors that threaten our health and safety. In an effort to balance the playing field of the energy marketplace, several groups are now offering green energy options to consumers that come from clean and renewable sources such as wind, solar, hydroelectric and biomass.
All Massachusetts residents may purchase clean electricity. National Grid customers are eligible to participate in GreenUp, a program offered by National Grid that enables customers to support renewable energy resources every month via their monthly electricity bill. There are three renewable energy companies residents may choose from. Massachusetts Residents with other electric providers may support clean energy by contributing to New England Wind Fund.
Clean Energy Choice ®
Clean Energy Choice® is a program run by the Renewable Energy Trust, a division of Massachusetts Technology Collaborative. The program has three main goals:
- To educate consumers and help them make informed decisions about their electricity choices.
- To provide consumers protection by certifying clean power suppliers.
- To provide funding for local clean energy initiatives and for low-income energy projects. MTC provides matching grants of up to 100% for each dollar consumers spend on clean energy.
When residents, businesses, or institutions participate in the Clean Energy Choice program, MTC will provide matching funds. Through GreenUp, for every for every $1 you pay for clean energy, up to $.66 will be given to the your city and up to $.66 will be given to low income areas in Massachusetts, and must be used for Clean Energy projects.
If 3% of households sign up for Clean Energy, you will receive a bonus grant of $50 per house, totaling tens of thousands of dollars!
Spread the word, tell your family, friends, co-workers, faith based groups, and others, to join us in this campaign for a healthier, cleaner, and economically stable energy future!
