Idle Free New Jersey: Business & Shopping Centers

noidlingsign1

Start Your Own "Idle Free" Zone Campaign at Your Business and/or Shopping Center!

If idling is a concern at your workplace or if your business or industry has a fleet of vehicles, implement the following measures to discourage idling and save money on fuel!

  1. Put up educational materials in your workplace in a location visible to employees and customers. Utilize materials from Transportation Program of Natural Resources Canada's Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE) or design your own:

    Idling Gets You Nowhere

    Ready To Do Your Part?

    Idling Gobbles Up Fuel

  2. Hand out educational materials to your employees and customers. Here are samples from Transportation Program of Natural Resources Canada's Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE) and Airwatch Northwest:

    Idling Gets You Nowhere

    Idling is Killing the Environment

  3. Place No-Idling Signs in Visible Locations Inside and Outside of Your Office or Shopping Complex. Below are links to a number of different "no idling" sign designs:

    For Our Health

Save $ And Spare Our Air

    Turn Off Your Engine

It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air

  4. Order "No Idling" and "Idle Free Zone" signs for your business. Order from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection at www.stopthesoot.org or call the Garden State Highway Products, Inc. at 1-800-338-5685. Ask for Joe McCracken and the Chatham No Idling sign.
  5. Send a letter to the CEO of the company.
