Hurricane Sandy and New Jersey's Environment

Hurricane Sandy not only impacted our homes, businesses and lives - it wreaked havoc on the environment. During the storm, toxic chemicals, debris, sewage and pollution not washed into our rivers, lakes and oceans and even into roads and homes. Raw sewage dumped into waterways, roads, lawns and even homes - putting public health and environment at immediate risk, bringing excessive nutrients and cause for future algal blooms and fish kills.

Many of the long-term effects of Hurricane Sandy are yet to be seen. That's why Clean Water Fund needs to get back to work - protecting water supplies, environment, and communities. We are eager to explore ways to help reduce the threat/impact of climate change and "super storms" like Hurricane Sandy. But we can't do this without a functioning State Office.
