  1. Don't forget your re-usable shopping bag when you go to the store.
  2. Make your coffee at home - save money and a cup.
  3. Keep a re-usable mug with you in your bag, at your office, or in the car.
  4. Ask the restaurant for non-disposable plate, cup, and utensils if you are going to sit at a table.
  5. Don't buy bottled water or beverages - use a stainless steel bottle to take water with you, and save money at the same time.
  6. Avoid packaged, processed foods - they are not healthful for you, your family, or the environment.
  7. Avoid foods packaged in small individual servings
  8. Use re-usable food containers (Pyrex, glass, metal) to store food in the refrigerator - they're safer than plastics and save resources.
  9. Use no bag or a fabric bag to carry produce - some things don't need to be bagged, like oranges and cucumbers that are large and have thick skins. For those that do- you can use cotton washable bags.
  10. Forget the trash bin liner - if you separate compostable materials from your trash, most of your trash will be dry. Then you don't really need trash bin liners.
