Strong Protections Needed for Shell Ethane Cracker Plant

Royal Dutch Shell is building the largest petrochemical processing facility that Pennsylvania has ever seen.  This Ethane Cracker Plant will take natural gas from fracking operations and process it into ethylene, a major component of plastic products.

This process will add significant pollution to our already vulnerable region by emitting large amounts of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which have been known to cause increased cancer rates, birth defects, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory conditions.

Urge the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to incorporate the strongest possible protections during the permitting process to hold Shell accountable now and into the future.
