The Nestle Company pumps 200,000 gallons of fresh water a day from Michigan for their bottled water brand Ice Mountain, and they just applied for a permit to pump more than twice that amount. If approved this increase in water withdrawal will deplete drinking water sources and threaten the health of our trout streams. Additionally, Nestle hasn’t paid a dime for the 1 billion gallons of fresh water they’ve already taken from us!
We have until April 21st to tell the DEQ that Michiganders don’t approve of Nestle’s attempt to drain our state further to turn massive profits at the expense of our environment and future generations access to drinking water. Email DEQ Director Heidi Grether today!
