Oil pipelines present unacceptable risks and do not belong in the Great Lakes. Enbridge’s Line 5 has already spilled 29 times and released more than 1 million gallons of oil and gas into the environment.
Michigan's Pipeline Safety Advisory Board released a proposal to shut down Line 5 in the Straits of Mackinac. Enbridge and the oil industry are supporting other alternatives proposed in the state’s study that would keep oil flowing through the Straits. Alternatives to decommissioning are not acceptable.
