Storm Buffers in Philadelphia

Philly Schuykill.jpg
Protect our water! Fight for 50-foot buffers!
Earlier this year, Clean Water Action worked with a coalition of groups to win a strong buffer rule of 50 feet in the city. The buffer is vital as it prevents buildings from being constructed too close to rivers and streams and ensures pollutants from stormwater are filtered before reaching our waterways. It was our biggest victory in years.

Now, City Council wants to undo this landmark buffer rule – it is considering reducing the minimum buffer width in Philadelphia from 50 feet to 25 feet.

Make sure they don’t – send a letter today!

We cannot allow this to happen. A reduction to 25 feet would be totally inadequate for protecting our waterways and would put our drinking water sources in more danger than they have been in years. Protect our drinking water by reaching out to the Council now!
