Sequestration Solution: Balance Needed!

Who's Looking Out for You? Take Action

Congress has let automatic across-the-board spending cuts known as “sequestration” go into effect. The President and Congress must agree on a solution to stop the cuts to vital environmental, health, and other programs. These are the programs that help keep our drinking water clean and our air healthy.

Make sure environmental programs aren’t put at risk – contact your Representative and Senators today!

Click here to learn more about what states will lose now that sequestration is in effect.

We need to take a balanced approach as we address the federal deficit. The plan must include new revenue, revitalize the economy, and protect and improve our environment.

We can do this by:

  • Avoiding Further Cuts to Environmental Programs: These programs are only 1.25% of the budget, but provide enormous benefits such as cleaner air and water, and healthier communities.
  • Eliminating Tax Giveaways to Big Oil and other polluting industries: Ending century-old giveaways to big oil companies would save billions, reduce harmful pollution, and reduce healthcare costs. Learn more about subsidies.
Congress has an opportunity to define a new course for our nation’s economy, one that recognizes that a healthy environment and healthy economy go hand in hand.  This means avoiding further spending cuts to environmental programs and ending tax breaks for dirty fuels to ensure a stronger economy and healthier future for all Americans.

Send a message to your Representative and Senators today
! Tell them that instead of cutting programs that protect our water and our health, Congress should cut wasteful tax subsidies for Big Oil and Gas companies!
