The Holland Board of Public Works (HBPW) has already wasted millions of dollars pursuing a misguided investment in a coal plant expansion, including a recent court battle over an air permit denied by the state last year. After the court sided with HBPW, the state under Governor Snyder's new administration reversed itself and issued the pollution permit for the proposed plant expansion. But, there's still time to stop this plant!
After hard-headedly pursuing the costly legal fight, the Holland Board of Public Works is now saying that they only wanted the air permit to keep the coal plant as an option and will make a decision about whether or not to build the plant at the end of the year.

We still have time to change the minds of the Holland City Council - the governmental body that makes the decision on whether to finance the new plant - as well as the HBPW Executives who are gambling ratepayer dollars by pushing a dirty, dangerous, 19th century power source like coal.
