Clean Water Action is happy to announce our endorsement of Elizabeth Dickinson for Mayor of St. Paul. Her progressive vision for the city and commitment to environmental issues will keep St. Paul on the path to becoming a more sustainable and equitable city for all.

Elizabeth is no stranger to environmental leadership, for years she has advocated for clean energy, environmental justice, eliminating harmful chemicals from consumer products, and more. She is a board member for Clean Water Action, on our Minnesota and National boards.

As mayor, we are confident that she will take the necessary steps to implement a strong climate action plan, ensure the Ford Plant site development considers environmental justice and sustainability, and expand access to energy efficiency and renewable energy regardless of economic circumstance.

In addition to her robust environmental stewardship, we applaud her approach to the position. Elizabeth pledges to increase transparency and community engagement at every level of city government. In times like these, having a local government you can trust is invaluable. We’re confident that Elizabeth Dickinson is the right woman for the job, which is why we’re pleased to endorse her as the next Mayor of St. Paul.

Betsy Hodges for Mayor of Minneapolis

Clean Water Action is pleased to announce our endorsement of Betsy Hodges for reelection as Mayor of Minneapolis.

We endorsed Betsy in 2013 because we believed that as Mayor, she would follow through on her promises to make Minneapolis a more sustainable and resilient city. Betsy delivered on her promises, and more, by ensuring that Minneapolis is a leader on climate action, creating the Clean Energy Partnership, and implementing curbside organics recycling and Complete Streets. She has made environmental justice a key consideration throughout decision making and has taken important steps to address serious issues, like incorporating environmental asthma protection and prevention into her Cradle to K plan.

Minneapolis is a greener and more sustainable city because of Mayor Hodges’ leadership. We’re confident that Betsy will continue to lead on environmental initiatives throughout her second term, by continuing to incorporate sustainable development into city work and by creating and implementing a resiliency and climate adaptation plan. Vote early for Betsy (full details here) or cast your ballot on Election Day, Tuesday, November 7th.
